HP introduced the MJF 1200 3D printer at RAPID+TCT 2026, marking a decade of its Multi Jet Fusion platform. The new system is designed as a compact unit to bring industrial-grade MJF capabilities into smaller workspaces. Alongside this, the HP Jet Fusion 5600 series received a firmware update enabling a High Productivity print mode that increases output by 20 percent, while also introducing Dual Tone technology for printing white and grey color features. HP also confirmed the general availability of its 600 High Temperature filament in the U.S. and Canada and expanded its Metal Jet S100 ecosystem with new powder management systems.

This release highlights HP's strategy to balance high-volume production with decentralized manufacturing. By introducing a smaller footprint MJF 1200, HP is directly targeting the gap between desktop prototyping and large-scale industrial factory floors, competing with smaller-format polymer systems from companies like Formlabs or Stratasys. The 20 percent productivity boost on the 5600 series addresses the critical market demand for lower cost-per-part metrics, which remains the primary barrier to wider adoption of polymer powder bed fusion in mass production environments.

For existing users, the 20 percent throughput increase on the 5600 series provides an immediate operational efficiency gain without requiring new hardware investment. The introduction of the MJF 1200 suggests HP is prioritizing market penetration in R&D labs and smaller service bureaus where floor space is a constraint. Buyers should evaluate whether the new Dual Tone capabilities provide sufficient value for their specific labeling or texturing requirements before committing to the late 2026 rollout.
