Phase3D, a Chicago-based quality assurance software developer for additive manufacturing, has closed a $2.9 million oversubscribed funding round led by Quest Venture Partners, with participation from Trinity Capital, Kinisis Ventures, Leroy Street Capital Partners, Asimov Ventures, New York Angels, and Chicago Booth Angels. The company will use the capital to scale production and deployment of its Fringe Inspection technology, a digital fringe projection (DFP) metrology system that generates micron-resolution heightmap data layer-by-layer during metal powder bed fusion (LPBF) builds. CEO Niall O'Dowd stated the investment accelerates real-time quality detection in AM, while COO/CFO Ben Ferrar framed the company's trajectory as moving from developing repeatable measurements to deploying them at scale as an industry standard.
