Renishaw expands metal additive manufacturing software suite for build preparation and process monitoring. The Wotton-under-Edge, UK-based company is upgrading its QuantAM build preparation software and InfiniAM process monitoring tools to improve data integration across its RenAM 500 series LPBF systems. These updates focus on streamlining the workflow for high-precision manufacturing sectors, including aerospace and medical, by enhancing the reliability of build files and real-time thermal data analysis. The software enhancements are designed to reduce operator intervention during the production of complex components using materials like Ti-6Al-4V and 316L stainless steel.
This software expansion addresses the critical need for process repeatability in regulated industries where hardware performance alone is insufficient for certification. By tightening the integration between build preparation and in-situ monitoring, Renishaw aims to compete more effectively against integrated software-hardware stacks from competitors like EOS and SLM Solutions. As the AM market shifts toward serial production, the ability to provide a closed-loop digital thread is becoming a primary differentiator for OEMs. This move reinforces Renishaw's strategy of maintaining a vertically integrated ecosystem to capture value beyond the initial machine sale.
For current users of Renishaw LPBF systems, these updates represent a necessary step toward improving build success rates and reducing post-process inspection requirements. The practical value lies in the improved data fidelity, which simplifies the validation process for critical parts. Users should prioritize integrating these updated tools into their existing quality management systems to leverage the improved monitoring capabilities during production runs.
