Japan 3D Printer Co., a Tokyo-based digital solution provider, has announced it will begin selling metal additive manufacturing systems from Chinese OEM Farsoon Technologies. Sales are scheduled to commence in September 2026, following a demonstration of the metal and polymer AM platforms at the Next-Generation 3D Printer Exhibition held at Tokyo Big Sight from July 1. Farsoon, headquartered in Changsha, China, reports over 1,500 cumulative installed systems globally and is known for its open-material and open-configuration platform philosophy, which allows users to access all process parameters and qualify third-party or proprietary materials. The product range spans from small precision LPBF machines to large multi-laser production systems, giving Japan 3D Printer Co. a broad metal AM portfolio to offer Japanese industrial customers.
This distribution agreement matters because it extends the reach of Chinese metal LPBF hardware into Japan, a market with strong precision-engineering and automotive supplier bases but relatively conservative AM adoption. Farsoon’s open-platform approach contrasts with the more closed, qualified-material ecosystems of Western OEMs like EOS or Trumpf, and may appeal to Japanese R&D and tooling shops that want to experiment with custom alloys or lower powder costs.
