Bambu Lab has partnered with Insta360 to launch the Luna Ultra Design Challenge on MakerWorld, its 3D printable model platform, marking the first time a camera brand has an official presence there. Running through August 9, the collaboration releases official 3MF and STEP files for the Luna Ultra, Insta360's dual-lens gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica, letting makers design mounts, grips, filming rigs, and cases without reverse-engineering the geometry. The contest splits into a design-upload track tagged #PrintForLuna and a social-media concept track, with 40 prizes totaling $11,160 including Luna Ultra units and Bambu Lab printers, and winners announced August 20. Selected designs may be developed further into official Insta360 accessories, with creators offered additional collaboration opportunities.

The deal extends MakerWorld beyond model-sharing into a channel where consumer electronics brands can crowdsource accessory ideation from an engaged maker base rather than building every SKU in-house. It fits a broader pattern of desktop FDM/FFF platforms courting non-AM brands as their user base has grown past hobbyist makers into mainstream consumer electronics buyers. For Bambu Lab, official CAD partnerships also reinforce MakerWorld as a distribution layer against independent model-sharing sites. The practical takeaway: brands that release native CAD files at launch, rather than after grey-market teardown files circulate, can capture accessory demand on their own terms.
