CoreTechnologie has separated 3D_Feature from its existing software suite into a standalone CAD conversion tool that transfers not just part geometry but design history, parametric features and sketches between Catia, NX, Creo and Solidworks. The software automates validation and repair of complex CAD datasets and carries over product manufacturing information, including dimensions and tolerances, alongside volume and surface geometry and product structure/metadata. Standalone packaging is meant to let CoreTechnologie update the converter faster against new CAD versions and customer-specific requirements than when it was bundled inside a larger product line.

Standard exchange formats typically preserve resulting geometry but drop the original modeling logic, so an imported part often can't be edited parametrically in the receiving system, a common friction point when designers, suppliers and AM service bureaus work across different CAD platforms and versions. Preserving PMI matters specifically for additive process chains, where part orientation, support generation, slicing and quality checks depend on tolerance and manufacturing data attached to the model rather than the mesh alone. CoreTechnologie positions the converter as one link toward a continuous digital thread, but notes that actual data continuity in production still depends on downstream connections to simulation, build preparation, machine control, PLM and quality systems.
