Korean defense manufacturer Eldas, led by CEO Lee Geun, has achieved full domestic localization of firearm suppressors built with selective laser melting, printing internal baffle geometries as a single welded-free unit rather than assembling machined parts. The company applies titanium and Inconel, both difficult to machine conventionally, and reports durability gains of more than 300 percent, sound suppression improvements exceeding 30 decibels, and weight reductions above 30 percent versus prior designs. Eldas holds a patent covering its 3D-printer-based suppressor manufacturing method. In April 2026 it signed an equipment supply agreement with DN Solutions and stood up AM2CNC, described as Korea's first production system integrating additive manufacturing with precision CNC machining.

The suppressor case is a compact illustration of where laser powder bed fusion earns its keep in defense hardware: complex internal lattice and chamber geometry that would require multi-part assembly or costly subtractive work in refractory alloys instead comes off the printer as one part, with CNC finishing handling tolerance-critical surfaces afterward. That AM plus CNC pairing matters more than the printer itself; production-grade defense components typically fail on repeatability and surface finish, not on any single demo part, and Eldas is positioning the DN Solutions equipment tie-up as the answer to that gap rather than a one-off prototype win. Localizing the equipment supply chain alongside the part itself also fits a broader pattern in Korean defense manufacturing, where domestic sourcing reduces exposure to export-control risk on both machines and components.

The patent and the AM2CNC line give Eldas a manufacturing story, but the harder test is whether the process holds tolerance and material properties across repeated production lots, which is what buyers in the Southeast Asian defense market Eldas is now targeting will actually diligence. A single patent filing and a named equipment partner are evidence of capability, not proof of qualified serial output at export scale.
