Electroninks and SIIX expand additive EMI shielding collaboration, add ultrasonic spray coating environment in Japan

Electroninks has expanded its collaboration with SIIX Corporation to advance additive electromagnetic interference shielding for electronics manufactured in Japan and other global markets. SIIX has installed spray coating equipment and built a specialized ultrasonic spray coating environment to support prototype coating trials across a range of products, with automotive electronics named as one target application. Under the arrangement, SIIX becomes a distribution and collaboration partner for Electroninks' EMI shielding materials and processes in Japan, and the two companies will jointly define printing and coating parameters for specific metal-organic decomposition ink products and customer materials, including automotive plastics such as PBT. The work begins with prototype trials rather than committed volume production.

The deal pairs Electroninks' MOD conductive ink chemistry with SIIX's electronics manufacturing services footprint, giving the ink developer a route into EMS production lines without building that manufacturing capacity itself. Conformal spray-applied shielding is positioned as a lighter, more design-flexible alternative to stamped metal shielding cans on ECUs and power control units, relevant as automotive electronics density and operating frequencies rise. Because the companies describe an open-ended framework for introducing new Electroninks materials into future trials, the near-term signal to track is whether a named production program follows the prototype stage.
