Formlabs presented its Fuse X1 industrial selective laser sintering system at its Partner Summit 2026 in Shenzhen on July 22, following the product’s June launch. The 330 x 330 x 565 mm build volume makes Fuse X1 Formlabs’ first large-format industrial SLS platform, extending its offer for functional parts and low-volume production. The company positioned the system around higher throughput, operational efficiency and lower total production cost, while demonstrating the workflow from printing and cooling through depowdering and post-processing. Formlabs said Fuse X1 has already supported product-development and labor- and production-cost objectives at Tesla’s Nevada Gigafactory, Red Bull and Autoliv Digital Manufacturing in North America.
The launch is significant because Formlabs is taking a platform associated with professional polymer printing further into industrial SLS production, where the usable economics depend on the complete workflow rather than print speed alone. A larger build envelope broadens the system’s relevance for bigger functional components and for nesting more parts per build, but it also raises the importance of cooling, powder handling, unpacking and repeatable post-processing. Formlabs is pairing the machine introduction with its Asia-Pacific channel network rather than treating the Shenzhen event as a standalone product showcase. Its China strategy emphasizes local operations and partner-led customer access, with Shenzhen set to host Fuse X1 as a demonstration and application-experience system for regional partners and industrial customers.
For prospective buyers, the practical decision is whether Fuse X1 can deliver a dependable production cell across the full SLS cycle, including labor requirements after the build finishes. The strongest early use cases will be functional-part development and small-batch manufacturing where production scheduling, part nesting and downstream handling justify a larger-format system. Formlabs’ reported annual revenue above $250 million and continued profitability give the launch added commercial weight, but local application support and partner capability will determine how quickly the platform converts into deployed capacity across Asia-Pacific.
