Hawk Ridge Systems, a manufacturing technology reseller, has added StartProto's cloud-based manufacturing execution system to its portfolio, linking design data, quoting, work planning, and shop-floor execution into one workflow. StartProto centralizes quoting, bill-of-materials management, scheduling, purchasing, and inventory, with AI features flagging potential delays and capacity bottlenecks from real-time production data. The platform supports STEP, IGES, and STL files alongside SolidWorks, 3DExperience, and Stratasys workflows, and can route overflow print jobs to outside manufacturing services when internal capacity is tight. StartProto is also marketed as ITAR-compliant, a relevant detail for aerospace and defense-adjacent shops.

The move slots alongside Hawk Ridge's existing 3DEXPERIENCE Delmia, CAMWorks, and Manufacturing-as-a-Service offerings rather than introducing new print hardware or process capability. It reflects a reseller-level push to bundle shop-floor software with equipment sales, targeting the coordination gap that appears once a print operation runs multiple jobs, materials, and machines at once. StartProto does not replace slicing or process simulation, so its value depends on integration depth and consistent capture of machine states, material lots, and job data. For AM shops juggling mixed production queues, that data discipline, not the AI layer itself, will determine whether the traceability promise holds up.
