
Manuven launches AI-powered qualification-as-a-service platform for AM production

Manuven, a spinout from AM workflow provider Authentise, has launched a qualification-as-a-service platform designed to streamline the production qualification process for additive manufacturing. The platform uses AI to extract geometry and machining recipes from drawings, scans, and text; suggests modern materials and DFAM redesigns with qualification steps built in; and auto-drafts technical data packages (TDPs) with traceability and routing to vetted suppliers. In a case study with the USAF/NASA NFAC wind tunnel, Manuven processed 2,500 conversations and 200+ documents to organize turbine blade production across multiple subcontractors. Authentise CEO Andre Wegner stated the platform emerged from observing that "a surprising amount of manufacturing runs on a surprisingly fragile operating model."
This launch addresses a persistent bottleneck in AM adoption: the qualification grind. While metal PBF-LB and polymer SLS/MJF machines have matured, the cost and complexity of proving that a part consistently meets performance, quality, and regulatory requirements remains a barrier to serial production, particularly in aerospace and defense. Manuven positions itself as a software-service layer that sits above the printer, materials, and post-processing value chain, competing indirectly with internal qualification workflows at OEMs and service bureaus. The platform's AI-driven ingestion of unstructured project data - conversations, documents, drawings - targets the hidden coordination costs that often exceed direct manufacturing expense. This fits the pattern of service-based adoption, where value capture shifts from hardware to the governance infrastructure that makes repeatable production possible.
For Manuven, the immediate challenge is proving that its AI-generated TDPs and routing recommendations meet the audit and certification standards of risk-averse verticals like aerospace and defense. The NFAC case study is a credible reference, but scaling from a single large project to repeatable deployment across multiple customers will require integration with existing PLM and quality management systems. Buyers should evaluate whether the platform reduces qualification cycle time and cost in their specific regulatory context, not just in project management overhead. The company must execute on building a reference library of qualified workflows across different process segments and materials to become a standard rather than a point solution.
