Post-processing specialist Spengler has launched an in-house selective laser sintering (SLS) production service at its French facility. The company, founded in 2022 by Stefano Rebecchi and Alessandro Facchini, is utilizing Prodways ProMaker P1000 hardware to offer production capacity for materials including PA12, glass-filled PA12, PA11, carbon-filled PA11, TPU, and PP. This service is positioned as a capacity extension for existing manufacturers rather than a primary supply chain alternative, specifically targeting overflow demand and specialized material requirements.
Spengler occupies a unique position in the additive manufacturing value chain by bridging the gap between post-processing automation and primary production. By leveraging its proprietary automated depowdering, sieving, and dyeing systems alongside its new printing service, the company addresses the common bottleneck of post-processing throughput in SLS workflows. This move allows Spengler to vertically integrate its expertise, directly competing with established service bureaus by offering a more controlled, automated post-processing environment for the parts it prints.
For current SLS users, this service provides a reliable contingency for capacity spikes or material-specific projects that fall outside standard internal capabilities. Spengler must now demonstrate that its integrated post-processing workflow can maintain competitive lead times while scaling its service operations beyond its core focus on equipment manufacturing. Buyers should evaluate this service primarily for projects requiring high-quality, automated surface finishing that aligns with Spengler's established post-processing technology stack.
