Prototech, a South Korean additive manufacturing total solutions provider, will showcase the Stratasys F3300 industrial FDM system and the new Formlabs Fuse X1 SLS printer at AM KOREA 2026, running July 8-10 at KINTEX in Goyang. The F3300 offers a 600×600×800mm build volume with four extruders and automated calibration for high-throughput production of engineering-grade parts. The Fuse X1 delivers a 330×330×565mm build volume, over 30% packing density, and AI-based Print Intelligence for real-time anomaly detection during unsupported SLS production.
This dual launch underscores a broader industry trend: the polymer AM segment is bifurcating into high-throughput production systems and accessible service-bureau workhorses. Prototech, as Stratasys and Formlabs' largest platinum partner in Korea, bridges the gap between OEM hardware and end-user adoption by offering full lifecycle support from prototyping to serial production - including parts for the K-21 defense vehicle program. The Fuse X1's AI-driven quality control addresses a persistent pain point in SLS: process stability at scale, which directly impacts service economics for bureaus running multi-shift operations. The F3300's large format and multi-material capability target industrial tooling and jig/fixture production, a segment that remains economically significant but media-invisible.
For Prototech, the real test is converting these demonstrations into recurring machine placements and material sales within Korea's defense and industrial tooling verticals. The company's existing track record with K-21 production parts provides a credible reference, but scaling from defense program support to broad industrial adoption requires sustained investment in post-processing infrastructure and customer training. Buyers evaluating these systems should focus on total cost of ownership per part, not just build volume or speed specs.
