Jiangsu Runice 3D Technology, a Chinese manufacturer of 3D printer components, has closed a funding round of approximately 100 million yuan (€12 million), announced on June 24, 2026. The round was led by Cowin Capital, with participation from Haojun Capital, Wuzhong Financial Holdings, and the Shihu Fund, and advised by Flow Capital. Runice will use the funds to develop core technologies, build digitalized manufacturing systems, strengthen its international brand presence, and establish a second production site in Dongguan to scale development, production, and delivery. Founded in 2013, the company supplies hotends, extruders, motion systems, and OEM/ODM solutions to printer manufacturers globally, operating under the Phaetus brand for premium components, FusRock for composite materials, and the Bulber Innovation Lab for new technologies.

This funding signals that the component layer of the polymer material extrusion (FDM/FFF) value chain is attracting dedicated investment, moving beyond the historical focus on complete printer brands like Creality and Bambu Lab. As the market shifts toward high-speed printing, multi-color and multi-material systems, and multiple print heads, the reliability and performance of sub-components - nozzles, heatbreaks, belts, and pulleys - have become critical differentiators. Runice’s ability to serve both aftermarket replacement/upgrade demand and OEM supply positions it at a structural leverage point in the desktop and prosumer AM ecosystem. The expansion into Dongguan also reflects a broader Chinese localization pattern where component suppliers scale manufacturing capacity to match the rapid output growth of domestic printer OEMs, reinforcing the supply chain independence that has become a competitive advantage for Chinese AM hardware globally.

From a practical standpoint, Runice’s challenge is to translate this capital into consistent quality and delivery at scale, particularly as its Phaetus brand targets international markets where buyers expect tighter tolerances and material traceability. The company must also navigate the increasing commoditization of basic FDM components as more entrants crowd the space. For buyers and integrators, this round confirms that the component supply base is professionalizing, making it easier to source reliable parts for both production and repair - but the proof will be in Runice’s ability to maintain lead times and defect rates as it doubles its footprint.
