Synera, the Bremen-based software company formerly known as ELISE, has closed a $40 million Series B round as of April 2026 to scale its low-code engineering automation platform for industrial additive manufacturing. The platform connects over 80 CAD, CAE, CAM, and PLM systems through a visual node-based editor, enabling engineers to automate workflows that span topology optimization, DfAM rule checking, lattice and TPMS structure generation, conformal cooling channel design, and build job preparation for SLS and LPBF processes. Synera runs locally on customer infrastructure and holds TISAX Level 2 certification, a requirement for handling sensitive design data in automotive and aerospace projects. The company is now adding AI agents that interpret requirements, select appropriate workflows, and execute them repeatedly - NASA is already using multiple such agents for validated component designs.
This funding round lands at a moment when the AM software segment is consolidating around workflow integration rather than standalone geometry generation. Synera’s value proposition is distinct from generative design tools like nTop or Autodesk Fusion: it does not create new geometries but instead orchestrates the handoffs between design, simulation, and manufacturing preparation steps that remain manual and error-prone across most industrial AM operations. The platform’s ability to integrate with Materialise, Hexagon, Siemens, PTC, and Cognitive Additive positions it as a middleware layer that sits above individual point solutions.
