Würth Additive Group has confirmed an orderly closure of all operations, ending the Würth Group business unit launched in 2021. The unit distributed additive manufacturing hardware and materials through reseller partnerships while focusing on inventory-management services for customers. Its Digital Inventory Services platform was introduced at AMUG 2024 and formally launched at AMUG 2025. No public reason or timetable for the closure has been disclosed, although former CEO AJ Strandquist and technology director Mikhail Gladkikh had recently announced their departures during the wind-down.

The closure removes a supplier that tried to position additive manufacturing as a digital spare-parts and inventory tool rather than solely a machine-sale business. That proposition depends on customers converting qualified part files, supplier networks, and purchasing workflows into repeatable savings, a longer commercial path than demonstrating print capability. Würth Additive Group’s exit does not invalidate digital inventory demand, but it underlines how difficult it is to build a standalone service business around adoption across customer operations. Companies with active accounts or outstanding arrangements should obtain a clear transition plan from the Closing Office.
