3DEO's technical intellectual property and process data are being sold through the Insolvency Services Group on behalf of creditors, covering nearly the entire IP estate of the California metal AM service provider. An existing opening bid of $3,426,507 includes certain machines alongside patents, trademarks, trade secrets, process know-how, and proprietary slicing and tool-path software. At the center is Intelligent Layering, 3DEO's hybrid process that selectively deposits binder into a metal powder bed, then CNC-mills each layer before sintering the green part. The package also transfers qualified material data for four alloys, including sintering profiles, shrinkage-compensation models, and mechanical property sets.
The sale underscores how much hybrid metal AM value sits in process IP and validated sintering data rather than machine fleets alone. Intelligent Layering targets small, complex serial parts, with 3DEO citing dimensional capability of ±0.002 inches (±0.051 mm) and surface finish around 100 Ra-figures that matter where pure binder jetting needs heavy post-machining for tolerance and finish. For buyers already running binder-jet or sinter-based metal lines, those material datasets and tool-path tools can compress years of work qualifying shrinkage behavior and layer-wise contour control. In serial production, green-part geometry must be pre-scaled for sintering distortion; without proven models the trial burden is large.
Potential acquirers face US export-control screening and must sign a confidentiality agreement before diligence. Qualified higher bids are due by August 12, 2026, at 12 p.m. Pacific, with a minimum 10 percent deposit; an online auction is set for August 14 if multiple offers clear. The practical prize is transferable production infrastructure-patents plus alloy process packs-that can be embedded into another manufacturer's factory workflow, though the winner must still re-validate materials and tolerances under its own quality system.
