Alloy Additive, a German metal additive manufacturing company, is showcasing large-scale titanium additive manufacturing at the European Space Agency's Industry Space Days on September 16-17, 2026, at ESA-ESTEC in the Netherlands. The company uses TIG-Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) to produce custom titanium, nickel, and stainless steel parts in days rather than the months typical of conventional metal fabrication. Its product line includes launch vehicle subcomponents, large structural metal parts, and lightweight pressure vessels optimized for space missions. Founder and CEO Mehmet Cetinkaya said the company aims to connect with prime contractors, satellite and spacecraft manufacturers, propulsion companies, and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers at the event. Alloy Additive is one of 32 startups from ESA's Business Incubation Centre network presenting in the ESA BIC Village at ISD, alongside ventures in self-healing composites, maritime weather AI, satellite autonomous navigation, and dam monitoring.
WAAM trades the fine feature resolution of powder bed fusion for higher deposition rates and larger build envelopes, suiting it to the large, geometrically simpler structural parts and pressure vessels common in launcher and spacecraft bus construction. That puts Alloy Additive in a growing field of wire-arc specialists competing on lead time rather than surface finish, inside a market where aerospace qualification cycles still run years regardless of how fast a part can be printed. ESA's BIC network, which backs over 250 startups annually across 23 member states, functions as a reference-building and commercialization on-ramp for hardware suppliers like Alloy Additive ahead of longer prime-contractor qualification programs.
