Beehive Industries, an American manufacturer of advanced propulsion systems for uncrewed aerial defense applications, announced a $50 million investment in EOS metal additive manufacturing technology. The agreement covers 30 EOS M4 ONYX systems, to be delivered within 12 months to Beehive’s Colorado and Tennessee facilities, bringing their total EOS metal AM fleet to 50 machines. The investment supports production of the company’s Frenzy 8 engine line, which has completed high-altitude testing and flight readiness validation, and follows a $29.7 million U.S. Air Force contract for vehicle integration and qualification. The deal was signed at EOS headquarters in Krailling, Germany, by EOS CEO Marie Niehaus-Langer and Beehive COO/CFO Darius Ehteshami.
This investment represents one of the largest single-fleet expansions in metal AM for defense propulsion, placing Beehive among the most production-intensive AM users in the United States. The EOS M4 ONYX platform, with its six-laser architecture and advanced process monitoring, is positioned to address the aerospace qualification grind by enabling repeatable, traceable production at scale. The move aligns with the broader defense-driven acceleration of AM adoption, where program-duration lock-in and domestic supply chain requirements are creating protected demand for American-made metal AM capacity. Beehive’s focus on swarm-class drone engines and the Rampart turbofan platform targets a segment where low-cost, high-rate production is critical, and where AM’s design freedom can consolidate part counts and reduce lead times compared to traditional casting and machining.
