CARIMATEC, a Seoul-based DLP resin 3D printing company, presented its production lineup at an AVING Global Media Meetup in Seoul on July 27. The flagship DM400 pairs dual 4K DLP engines with full post-processing automation, running unattended for 24 hours through part removal, washing, curing and drying. Priced around $100,000, CARIMATEC says one DM400 replaces 40 desktop DLP printers, needs one operator and 10 square meters, and produces over 800 clear-aligner tooth models per day. The company also introduced Zenesis Bio, described as the first DLP bioprinter to print directly onto slide glass, outputting over 300 samples per minute at above 90 percent cell viability.
The announcement matters less for any single machine than for the throughput and yield discipline behind it: CARIMATEC cites 500,000-plus sets of clear-aligner mold production, a 70 percent lead-time cut versus injection molding, material efficiency above 95 percent, and scrap under 1 percent. That combination targets the dental sector's core adoption bottleneck, unit economics against conventional mold tooling rather than one-off prototyping speed. Existing ODM supply deals with Tethon 3D, Shofu, Mitsui Chemicals and Mutoh, plus a functional-parts program with CR Mining Solutions in South Africa, indicate a hardware-plus-materials bundling strategy aimed at Formnext, IDS, SILMO Paris, MICAM Milano and BioJapan.
The bet is that pairing proprietary optics with a matched resin portfolio is harder to replicate than the print engine alone, a moat DLP vendors selling machines without material control generally lack.
