Espoo, Finland-based Hyperion Robotics has raised €6.4 million in growth funding to scale its robotic 3D printing platform for low-carbon concrete infrastructure across Europe. The round was co-led by Course Corrected and the European Innovation Council Fund, with participation from RE Ventures and existing backers Lifeline Ventures, Ubermorgen Ventures and PC Rettig Impact & Co. The capital funds Hyperion's first UK microfactory, Forge I, in Flixborough near Scunthorpe in partnership with LKAB, plus further development of its Forge software platform tying together design, structural engineering, code compliance and factory operations. Founded in 2020 by Fernando De los Rios, Ashish Mohite and Henry Unterreiner, the company counts National Grid, Costain, Mott MacDonald Bentley, Anglian Water and United Utilities among its clients.
Hyperion's model replaces cast-in-place concrete work with large-format additive manufacturing inside localized robotic microfactories built near project sites, which the company says cuts material use by up to 75%, embodied carbon by up to 70% and programme time by roughly three times versus conventional construction. That fits a broader push toward construction-focused AM aimed at Europe's aging power grid, water and industrial-facility base, where labor shortages and decarbonization mandates favor factory-built components over field-poured concrete. The shift from project-based delivery to a standing UK production site marks the same move from bespoke fabrication to repeatable factory capacity that has separated durable AM suppliers from one-off demonstration projects in other segments.
