Germany-based IQ Evolution GmbH has signed a strategic cooperation framework with EC Precision focused on metal laser 3D printing for liquid-cooling systems. Announced by EC Precision on May 21, the agreement targets copper and aluminum additive manufacturing and microchannel liquid-cooling plates. The partners intend to jointly pursue applications in automotive, computing infrastructure, energy storage and communications base stations, while EC Precision expands its European manufacturing footprint through its German ECPG platform.
For IQ Evolution, the arrangement pairs its liquid-cooling engineering experience with a partner seeking to industrialize localized metal-component supply in Europe. Microchannel plates are a demanding AM application because performance depends on material processing, internal-channel design and repeatable manufacturing, not simply print capability. The deal therefore strengthens IQ Evolution’s position as a technology and process partner in thermal-management programs rather than a standalone equipment supplier. The practical test is whether the framework converts into qualified, serially produced cooling components for the named end markets.
