Mechnano, a materials science company specializing in discrete carbon nanotube (dCNT) technology, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of PC-ABS and PPSU electrostatic discharge (ESD) pellets for additive manufacturing. The new materials are designed for fused filament fabrication (FFF) and large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) systems, offering controlled electrical conductivity without compromising mechanical properties. The PC-ABS ESD pellet targets applications requiring toughness and heat resistance, while the PPSU ESD pellet addresses high-temperature, chemically resistant end-use parts. Both materials leverage Mechnano’s proprietary dCNT dispersion technology to achieve uniform ESD performance at low loading levels, avoiding the brittleness and surface finish issues common with carbon black or metal-filled compounds.
This launch extends Mechnano’s dCNT platform beyond its existing ESD resins and filaments, directly addressing a persistent gap in the industrial AM materials market: the lack of reliable, processable ESD thermoplastics for production tooling, electronics handling, and cleanroom fixtures. The PC-ABS and PPSU grades compete with carbon-fiber-reinforced compounds from suppliers like BASF, Lehmann & Voss, and 3DXTech, but Mechnano’s dCNT approach claims more consistent resistivity and better mechanical retention.
