Meituan, China's leading e-commerce and on-demand delivery platform, has invested in Shenzhen-based Intelligent Pai (智能派) through its affiliates Hain Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Beijing Longzhu Equity Investment Fund Partnership. The investment, disclosed via corporate registry Qichacha on April 30, 2026, increases Intelligent Pai's registered capital to 7.31 million CNY. Founded in 2015, Intelligent Pai develops and sells consumer-grade 3D printers, laser engravers, and STEM kits, positioning itself in the fast-growing desktop additive manufacturing segment.

This investment signals a strategic bet by Meituan on the consumer electronics and education verticals, where desktop 3D printing is gaining traction for rapid prototyping, hobbyist creation, and STEM learning. Intelligent Pai competes with global players like Bambu Lab, Creality, and Prusa Research in the polymer material extrusion (FDM/FFF) and vat photopolymerization (SLA/DLP) segments. The move aligns with the broader pattern of Chinese tech giants diversifying into hardware ecosystems, leveraging their logistics and distribution networks to scale consumer AM adoption. The consumer 3D printing market, while smaller than industrial AM, is growing at 15-20% annually, driven by lower entry prices and expanding material capabilities.

From an AM industry perspective, this is a modest but strategically coherent investment. Intelligent Pai must now demonstrate that Meituan's capital and distribution reach can translate into sustained market share against well-entrenched competitors. The company's focus on STEM kits and laser engraving alongside printers suggests a platform play rather than a pure hardware bet. For buyers, the key question is whether Intelligent Pai can match the reliability and ecosystem support of established brands like Bambu Lab, which has set a high bar for user experience in consumer AM.
