PERI 3D Construction is printing three multi-family DREIHAUS buildings in Heidelberg with Korte-Hoffmann and other partners, delivering 21 residential units for commercial housing use. A robot-guided arm extrudes specialized concrete layer by layer to form the walls, with pure print time projected at 14 to 26 days per building. Partners expect roughly 30 percent faster delivery and about 10 percent lower cost than conventional shell construction. Managing director Fabian Meyer-Brötz positions the work as a fully planned, standardized, and repeatable building product rather than a showcase of the printer alone.

DREIHAUS moves German concrete-print work beyond one-off demonstrators such as Beckum’s first fully 3D-printed house and Heidelberg’s 2023 Wavehouse toward serial three-story multi-family stock. Architect Alexander Hoffmann’s studio optimized the design for print-ready, scalable units aimed at ordinary affordable housing, not sculptural pilots. On the materials side, Heidelberg Materials’ evoZero cement is used for the first time in a 3D-print project here, with claimed binder CO2 cuts of about 55 percent versus ordinary Portland cement, even as process researchers note many printable mixes still carry higher cement intensity per kilogram than poured concrete.

The open question is whether print-day and shell-cost gains clear German permitting, local MEP trades, and post-print finishing well enough to become fleet economics rather than another pilot.
