PTC, Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel, and EOS have opened the Digital Implant Engineering Center, a hospital-based facility for designing, validating, and producing patient-specific implants and medical devices. PTC supplies its Creo CAD platform for device design, while EOS provides industrial metal additive manufacturing, including its EOS M 290-2 laser powder bed fusion system, to connect medical imaging, design, quality control, and production in a single digital workflow. The center targets craniomaxillofacial, orthopedic, and surgical-guide applications, aiming to cut reliance on external manufacturers and shorten turnaround for urgent or complex cases.
For EOS, the project extends its LPBF metal platform into point-of-care hospital production, a distribution model that places printers directly inside a clinical design-and-qualification loop rather than routing through a service bureau. CSO Nikolai Zaepernick tied the deal to EOS's open software architecture, framing it as the technical basis for a scan-to-print workflow that competitors with closed systems cannot easily replicate. A working reference site inside a major Israeli hospital gives EOS a qualification case study it can reuse when pitching decentralized, patient-matched manufacturing to other health systems evaluating in-house metal AM.
