Sichuan Yinshidai Additive Manufacturing, a handboard and prototyping service bureau founded in 2014, has installed two Yingpu P360 laser sintering systems and a PPS powder processing workstation in its Chengdu facility. The P360 offers a 360×360×600 mm build volume, 15 m/s scan speed, active cooling for faster cycle times, and near-100% powder recyclability. The PPS workstation enables automated powder handling and closed-loop management for both machines. Yinshidai’s service portfolio covers automotive, aerospace, electronics, and industrial design, and the move marks its first dedicated SLS capacity after years of primarily offering resin-based processes.
This expansion reflects a broader trend in China’s polymer AM service sector: as resin-based handboard margins compress, established bureaus are adding SLS to improve throughput and unit economics. Yinshidai selected Yingpu’s integrated solution-printer plus powder station-to reduce labor costs and material waste, directly addressing the operational pain points that define service-bureau profitability in a price-sensitive market. The investment also signals that Chinese SLS equipment, with localized supply chains and competitive pricing, is now a credible option for shops that previously relied on imported polymer systems. For the AM industry, this is a routine but instructive case: a mid-tier service bureau making a calculated switch from legacy resin to SLS after validating the economics. The real test will be whether Yinshidai can sustain utilization across its diverse customer base-auto and aerospace prototyping typically require rapid iterations, but binder-free SLS powder handling and post-processing still demand skilled operators. Equipment reliability and powder management, not machine specs, will determine the return on this investment.
