Bambu Lab's MakerWorld sets content rules ahead of video upload feature for 3D model listings

MakerWorld, Bambu Lab's 3D model marketplace, is preparing a video upload feature for model listings and has published content guidelines ahead of the rollout. Designers must keep the printed model as the core subject, covering four accepted formats: build/disassembly walkthroughs, functional demonstrations of moving parts or mechanisms, styled photography and creation-process narratives, or objective testing and comparisons. Videos that use a model merely as a background prop, contain no informational content, or show unsafe assembly steps without warnings face restricted display or removal. No launch date has been set, and Bambu Lab says the rules will evolve based on community feedback after release.

The move extends MakerWorld's role as a service and discovery layer sitting on top of Bambu Lab's printer hardware business, adding a content-moderation function typical of maturing creator marketplaces. Video listings could improve buyer confidence for complex prints, such as multi-part assemblies or kinetic designs, by showing real-world print behavior before a purchase or download decision. The guidelines also preempt low-effort content farming that has diluted video features on other platforms. For designers, the practical implication is that future visibility on MakerWorld will depend on producing genuinely instructive video content rather than generic promotional clips.
