Hisense Group subsidiary Haipulin officially launched its high-power laser intelligent manufacturing base in the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone on June 24, 2026. The facility marks Hisense's first industrial laser manufacturing project, focusing on high-power fiber lasers for handheld welding, high-power cutting, and 3D printing. Haipulin Fiber Optics Operations Director Zhang Chao stated that by Q4 2026, monthly production is expected to reach 10,000 units across three product series. The company is currently in talks with local aerospace additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and shipbuilding firms, with orders expected in the second half of the year.
This move represents a strategic vertical integration play by a major Chinese consumer electronics and display company into industrial laser manufacturing, a critical upstream component for metal additive manufacturing systems. Haipulin's entry into high-power fiber lasers directly addresses a key supply-chain dependency for Chinese metal PBF-LB and DED OEMs, which have historically relied on Western laser sources from IPG, nLIGHT, and Coherent. By localizing laser production at scale - 10,000 units per month by year-end - Haipulin could materially lower the cost and improve the availability of laser sources for China's growing AM equipment sector. The Tianjin location also leverages the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei talent corridor and port logistics, positioning Haipulin to serve both domestic and export markets.
For the AM industry, the practical implication is straightforward: Chinese metal AM OEMs may soon have a high-volume, domestically produced laser source alternative, potentially accelerating the ongoing localization trend in China's AM supply chain.
