
Polymaker launches HT-PLA Pro with 9.94 kJ/m² impact strength and 30% stronger layer adhesion

Polymaker has launched HT-PLA Pro, a heat-stable PLA filament for FDM/FFF that combines nano reinforcement with heat-stability chemistry to address brittleness and weak interlayer bonding in conventional high-temperature PLA. Versus standard HT-PLA, notched Charpy impact strength more than doubles to 9.94 kJ/m² from 4.94 kJ/m², while Z-direction tensile strength rises about 30% from 20.8 MPa to 26.8 MPa. Heat performance stays in the HT-PLA family: Vicat softening temperature is 148.3°C as printed and 150.5°C after annealing under ISO 306, and a 30-minute anneal at 100°C delivers a heat deflection temperature of 107.6°C at 0.45 MPa under ISO 75. The material prints on open standard FDM machines without an enclosure or hardened nozzle, is validated to 300 mm/s, uses 230°C nozzle and 25–65°C bed settings, and launches in 18 colours at an MSRP of €25.99 / $25.99.
This is a materials upgrade inside polymer material extrusion, not a machine story. Polymaker is aiming at makers, print farms, and functional-part users who want higher impact and layer adhesion without moving to engineering plastics that typically need enclosures, dryers, or abrasive-ready nozzles. High-temp PLA grades often trade toughness for thermal rating; HT-PLA Pro tries to keep PLA-style workflow economics while closing that toughness gap for jigs, fixtures, and light end-use polymer parts.
The practical check is whether the annealed HDT and doubled impact hold under real load and farm throughput, not only in datasheet comparison to base HT-PLA.
