
Positron 3D launches Prusawire R1 CoreXZ kit reusing Prusa MK3 and MK4 parts

Positron 3D has released Prusawire R1, the first regular version of its CoreXZ conversion kit that rebuilds leftover Prusa MK3 and MK4 hardware into a Voron Switchwire-style FDM/FFF machine. Rather than aluminum extrusion, R1 reuses donor frames, bed mounts, rods, electronics boxes, wiring, and bearings, including MK3 frames, 8 mm Z rods, and Einsy RAMBo boards from upgrades such as MK4S-to-CORE One conversions. Two frame-mounted motors drive the toolhead in X and Z while the bed moves in Y, removing lead screws for faster Z travel. Electronics support spans Einsy RAMBo to BigTreeTech SKR Mini E3 V3 and SuperPINDA, Omron, and E3D PZ probes, with Klipper configs on GitHub, PrusaSlicer profiles, a web configurator for STLs, and dealer kits expected soon.
In the prosumer material-extrusion aftermarket, retired Prusa frames often lose value once owners move to CORE One-class machines. By documenting multi-generation MK3–MK4S part mixes and updateable Klipper plus slicer support, Positron turns scrap-bin upgrades into a repeatable rebuild path. For shops and makers holding spare Prusa iron, the kit recovers mechanical value into a CoreXZ platform without purchasing a full second chassis.
