RIC Robotics, a Denver-based additive construction service provider, has begun work on Cleora, a planned community of 106 homes on 55 acres in central Colorado, with roughly two-thirds of the units to be built using RIC's AC robots. Seven homes have been completed so far and multiple units have already sold. Cleora is structured as its own metro district, bundling utilities and recreational infrastructure into the build, and RIC has partnered with Colorado Mountain College to train students for careers in automated construction.
The announcement lands as the 21st Century Road to Housing Act clears both chambers of the US Congress, a bill that includes a grant program to fast-track projects built from pre-approved housing designs, a provision that could directly benefit AC builders working at community scale. Cleora tests whether 3D printed construction can move beyond single demonstration homes into a multi-year, multi-hundred-unit program with its own governance structure, phased sales and a dedicated workforce pipeline. For additive construction broadly, a project of this size matters more for what it proves about repeatable delivery and public-private permitting cooperation than for the printing technology itself.
RIC Robotics' ability to convert seven completed homes and partial presales into a fully built 106-home district will be a more useful maturity signal than the initial groundbreaking.
