
RIC Robotics to build 106-home, 55-acre 3D-printed community in Colorado, its largest to date

RIC Robotics, a Denver-based construction 3D printing company, is starting development on a 106-home community in Colorado called Creola, built across 55 acres and printed entirely with the company's robotic-arm construction 3D printers. RIC Robotics describes it as the largest 3D-printed housing community undertaken to date. Students from Colorado Mountain College will work on site, gaining hands-on training in construction additive manufacturing as part of the build. CEO Ryan Cox said prior construction 3D printing coverage has focused almost entirely on single-house projects, and Creola is meant to show the technology working at community scale with local partners involved.
Most construction 3D printing announcements to date have been standalone demonstration houses rather than production-scale developments, so a 106-unit community is a meaningful step up in throughput and site logistics. RIC Robotics brings a track record to the attempt, with more than 200 construction 3D printing projects completed, mostly in the United States. Pairing the build with a community college training program also addresses a real bottleneck for the sector: a shortage of trained operators for robotic-arm printing systems, rather than printer capability itself.
Whether Creola holds up as a proof point depends on unit-level build times and costs across all 106 homes, not just the completion of a first show unit.
