
Spectroplast relocates to Munich, restructures around on-demand silicone manufacturing as CEO cites nearing series production

Spectroplast, the DLP-based true-silicone 3D printing company, has relocated its operations to Munich and reorganized around two service lines: on-demand manufacturing of one-off and small-batch silicone parts, and standalone silicone materials sold to customers running their own DLP printers. CEO Maximilian Eils, in an interview with 3Druck.com, said the move pairs the company's existing material technology and customer base with new hires and a clearer production-focused structure. Eils said the company is approaching series production of true silicone parts made via additive manufacturing, distinct from TPU, TPE, or silicone-like photopolymers that only approximate the material's properties. Target applications include medical technology, robotics, prosthetics, dental technology, and industrial sealing, where elasticity, temperature resistance, chemical resistance, and biocompatibility are required.
The interview frames on-demand manufacturing not just as a flexible fulfillment model but as a discovery channel: working directly with customers on one-off parts lets Spectroplast identify which applications have a realistic path to volume production before committing engineering resources. That mirrors a broader pattern across polymer and elastomer AM, where repeatability, process validation, and cost per part increasingly outweigh design freedom as the qualifying criteria for adoption. True-silicone printing has lacked a clear production-scale precedent, so Spectroplast's move toward series manufacturing, if it holds up in named customer programs, would mark one of the first attempts to convert this material category from prototyping into an industrial supply chain.
