How the AMPulse Score is made

The AMPulse Score is an AI-assisted assessment of a company’s publicly visible position in the additive manufacturing market. It is AMPulse analysis, not disclosed fact, and it never overrides your judgment: AMPulse connects the evidence, you make the call.

What it reads

Each evaluation reads the company’s enriched public profile: disclosed funding history, patent activity, news coverage, team and leadership information, technology descriptions, and competitive context. Only public evidence enters the evaluation. When a field could not be verified, the category is scored on the evidence that exists and the gap is treated as a gap, not as a zero.

The eight categories

TeamDoes the leadership team have relevant technical and commercial track record?
MarketHow large and reachable is the segment the company serves?
TechnologyIs the core technology differentiated and defensible?
FundingWhat does the disclosed funding history say about investor conviction and runway?
GrowthDo public signals (news, hiring, partnerships) indicate momentum?
DifferentiationHow clearly does the company stand apart from named competitors?
AM CapabilityHow deep is the company’s additive-manufacturing-specific capability?
GTMIs there evidence of a working go-to-market motion?

Each category is scored 0 to 100 and the overall score is a weighted average. Categories without enough evidence are marked not rated and excluded from the average rather than counted as zero.

How AI is involved

Evaluations are produced by a large language model reading the company’s evidence profile against a fixed rubric, with automated consistency checks. The model does not browse freely at scoring time; it reads what the AMPulse enrichment pipeline has already collected and verified. Scores are re-evaluated in batches as profiles change, and each evaluation records which model produced it and when.

Grades

Free plans see the coarse grade; the precise score and per-category breakdown are part of the paid depth tier. The bands:

A+90 to 100
A80 to 89
B+70 to 79
B60 to 69
C+50 to 59
C40 to 49
D30 to 39
Fbelow 30

What it is not

  • Not investment advice, and not a substitute for diligence.
  • Not a measure of company quality beyond what public evidence shows. A private company that discloses little will score conservatively.
  • Never influenced by payment. No company can buy a higher score.

If a score rests on data you know to be inaccurate, use the Report Inaccuracy button on the company’s page, or start from submit-company to correct your own profile. Corrections feed the next evaluation.
